‘Meizan-Malaysian Palm Oil Shera Rondhonshilpi 2017’ launched

Country’s premier culinary talent hunts competition and popular TV Reality Show Meizan-Malaysian Palm Oil Shera Rondhonshilpi 2017’ has been launched, inviting entries from the interested culinary artists. The Reality Show is being sponsored by Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and “Meizan” brand fortified palm olein of Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited (BEOL). The program is presented by the country’s popular TV channel ATN Bangla and leading tourism and aviation fortnightly The Bangladesh Monitor. Total 14 episodes of the competition will be telecast in ATN Bangla once a week at peak time in the evening from September 9, 2017.

To formally launch the program, a press conference was organised yesterday, May 20, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor of The Bangladesh Monitor, A K M Fakhrul Alam, Regional Manager of Malaysian Palm Oil Council, Faisal Mahmud, Marketing Manager, Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited, Nawazish Ali Khan, Advisor (Program), Parvez A. Chowdhury, Principal, National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute spoke on the occasion among others.

Each interested culinary artist needs to submit at least one entry to participate in the competition. Each entry should contain a recipe of Bangladeshi main dish for four adult people, participant’s name, passport size photo, contact details, Division from which he/she intends to compete. One participant may send more than one entry.

Registrants will be divided into four greater regions. A Jury Committee comprising culinary experts, nutritionists, celebrity chefs, based on the recipes will select 8 participants from each Region and invite them to take part in the TV Reality Show. The participants will go through several Elimination Rounds and the best 5 participants will demonstrate their culinary expertise and nutrition knowledge on different themes in last three episodes.  Names of the winners will be announced at the Grand Finale and Award Presentation Ceremony.

The winner will receive a cash ward of Tk. three lakh, while the 1st and 2nd Runner-ups Tk. one lakh and fifty thousand respectively.
